The JIPMER PG (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research Postgraduate) entrance exam is a national-level examination conducted for admission into various MD/MS programs offered by JIPMER, Puducherry. JIPMER offers a comprehensive range of postgraduate (PG) programs, including MD, MS, and MDS, as well as super-specialty courses such as DM and M.Ch., catering to the advanced academic and professional aspirations of medical graduates. However, since 2020, the JIPMER PG entrance test has been merged with the NEET PG exam, under the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Therefore, admissions to PG medical courses at JIPMER are now based on NEET PG scores. JIPMER PG  2026 – Online Registration:

JIPMER PG is conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This exam is for those aspirants who are seeking admission to the following programs listed below.

  • 6-year full-time PG program at JIPMER for MD and MS program.
  • Candidates can also pursue 3-year full time PG programs in DM and M. Ch.

JIPMER PG  2026 Notification:

For INI CET (MD/MS, 6-year courses):

JIPMER PG 2026 will begin with the online application submissions starting in the 1st week of September 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 1st week of March 2026 (for July 2026 session). The last date for the submission of online applications is 1st week October 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 1st week of April 2026 (for July 2026 session). JIPMER PG exam will be conducted between 9th November 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 17th May 2026 (for July 2026 session).

For INI SS (DM/M.Ch., 3-year courses):

JIPMER PG 2026 will begin with the online application submissions starting in the 4th week of September 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 4th week of March 2026 (for July 2026 session). The last date for the submission of online applications is 2nd week October 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 1st week of April 2026 (for July 2026 session). JIPMER PG exam will be conducted between 22nd November 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 25th April 2026 (for July 2026 session).

JIPMER PG  2026 Application Form:

  • The application form will be available in online mode only via the official JIPMER or AIIMS exams portal.
  • Candidates must first complete a basic registration, providing personal, educational, and contact information.
  • After registration, candidates have to upload required documents including a recent photograph and signature.
  • Pay the application fee online using debit/credit card or net banking.
  • Once submitted, no corrections are allowed hence details must be entered carefully by the candidates.
  • Candidates are advised to print and retain a copy of the completed application and fee receipt for future reference.

Steps to Apply for JIPMER PG  2026:

Online Mode:

  • Candidates need to visit the official JIPMER or AIIMS exams website.
  • Candidates will then have to select the relevant session and course (INI CET or INI SS) and complete basic registration with personal details.
  • In the next step, candidates will be required to upload certain documents (photo, signature, certificates) and pay the application fee online.
  • After finalizing and submitting the application form candidates should download and print the confirmation page and payment receipt for records.
  • Candidates must ensure that all eligibility criteria are met before applying.
  • No corrections are allowed after submission.
  • Keep all documents and receipts safely for future reference.

JIPMER PG  2026 Eligibility Criteria:

3 Year Post Graduate Program (MD/ MS/ DM/ M. Ch.):

  • Nationality:Candidates must be Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or foreign nationals.
  • Educational Qualification:Candidates must possess an MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
  • Minimum Marks:A minimum aggregate of 55% marks in MBBS is required for General/ EWS/ OBC candidates, and 50% for SC/ ST candidates.
  • Internship:Completion of a 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training by 31st January 2026 is mandatory for each candidate.
  • Registration:Candidates must be registered with the Central or State Medical Registration Council and should provide proof at the time of admission.
  • Final Year Candidates:Those appearing in the final year of their MBBS degree are eligible to apply, provided they submit proof of passing and internship completion by the specified date.
  • Exam Requirement:Admission to MD/ MS courses is through the INI CET 2026 exam, and for DM/ M.Ch. via INI SS.
  • Reservation for PwBD:5% of seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) with at least 40% disability, as per government norms.
JIPMER PG 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

JIPMER PG  2026 Exam Pattern:

  1. The exam will be conducted in an online computer – based mode.
  2. The exam will consist of 250 questions and will be MCQ (Multiple-Choice-Questions) based.
  3. The questions are distributed across Basic Clinical Sciences and Clinical Sciences.
  4. The duration for the test will be of 3 hours (180 minutes).
  5. There will be a negative marking of -1 for any incorrect answers and 4 marks will be given for each correct answer.
  6. The medium of language will be in English only.
JIPMER PG 2026 – Exam Pattern

JIPMER PG  2026 Admit Card:

  1. Candidates will be provided with admit cards for the JIPMER PG 2026 exam during the 4th week of October 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 3rd week of April 2026 (for July 2026 session).
  2. Admit card is mandatory without which no candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam.
  3. Candidates will be able to download their hall tickets/admit cards from the official website by providing their credentials such as registration number, date of birth, etc.
JIPMER PG 2026 – Counselling

JIPMER PG  2026 Syllabus:

The JIPMER PG (MD/MS) 2026 syllabus has been designed to assess the knowledge and clinical skills of MBBS graduates. The syllabus focuses on topics covered during the undergraduate medical program. Hence, it is largely based on the curriculum prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for MBBS. The exam pattern and content are similar to NEET PG, focusing on problem-solving, clinical application, and theoretical knowledge.

Following is the list of some of the topics and subjects which candidates need to prepare for the exam.

  • Basic Clinical Sciences:Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Forensic Medicine.
  • Clinical Sciences:Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, Community Medicine, Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, and Radiotherapy.
  • General Knowledge and Recent Advances:Questions may also cover recent advances and updates in the medical field.
JIPMER PG 2026 – Syllabus

Scholarship Details:

JIPMER PG offers several scholarships and financial assistance programs for postgraduate medical students, aimed at reducing tuition fees and supporting living expenses.

Following is the list of some of the financial aids that are offered to the students at JIPMER.

  • Earn & Learn Scheme:UG students can earn up to INR 2,000/month (max INR 16,000/year) through part-time work at JIPMER.
  • Loan Interest Repayment Scheme:Up to INR 30,000 for repayment of education loan interest for UG and PG students.
  • Savitri Bai Phule Yojana:INR 25,000 grant for financially needy female students in UG and PG health sciences.
  • Medical Emergency Support:INR 2,000 to INR 2,00,000 for students facing medical emergencies.
  • Research and Event Grants:Up to INR 10,000 for seminars and workshops.

Eligibility: Criteria vary by scheme, including income limits (typically less than INR 6 lakhs family income), gender, and community. Some financial aids are merit-based while others are need-based.

  • For INI CET (MD/MS, 6-year courses): The results will be announced by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 15th November 2025 (for session January 2026), and 23rd May 2026 (for session July 2026). The JIPMER PG 2026 exam will be conducted in two phases – for session January 2026 the exam will be held on 9th November 2025, and for July 2026 session the exam will be on 17th April 2026.
  • For INI SS (DM/M.Ch., 3-year courses): The results will be announced by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 28th November 2025 (for session January 2026), and 2nd May 2026 (for session July 2026). The JIPMER PG 2026 exam will be conducted in two phases – for session January 2026 the exam will be held on 22nd November 2025, and for July 2026 session the exam will be on 25th April 2026.

JIPMER PG  2026 Selection Process:

  • Results for JIPMER PG 2026 (admission through INI CET/INI SS) will be announced online by the authorities. Candidates will be required to log in with their credentials to view their results.
  • A combined merit list will be prepared based on the overall rank and roll number. This list is used to shortlist candidates for further admission processes.
  • Cut – offs for JIPMER PG 2026 can be around 50th percentile for UR/ OCI/ EWS/ Sponsored/ Foreign Nationals, and 45th percentile for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWBD/ Bhutanese National (PGI-Chandigarh).
  • The institute organizes counselling in multiple rounds. During counselling, seat allotment is based on the candidate’s entrance exam rank/score and their preferences.
  • Candidates need to participate in the counselling round as per the schedule and bring all required documents for verification.
JIPMER PG 2026 – Preparation Tips

JIPMER PG  2026 Instructions:

  1. Candidates should upload their photograph and signature with the preferred size in the portal which should be clearly visible.
  2. Candidates need to carry their admit card/hall ticket to the exam centre. Candidates will be prohibited from entering the exam hall without this document.
  3. Candidates will also be required to carry a valid ID proof such as – Voter ID Card/ Aadhaar Card/ PAN Card/ Driving License, etc.
  4. It is advisable for all candidates to enter the designated exam hall before time for a smooth security process before the beginning of exam.
  5. Any candidate violating the rules will be strictly dealt as per the norms of the exam centre.
  6. Any candidate pursuing any unfair means in the exam hall will be dealt with as per the rules and regulations of the test centre.
