The JIPMER PG (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research Postgraduate) entrance exam is a national-level examination conducted for admission into various MD/MS programs offered by JIPMER, Puducherry. JIPMER offers a comprehensive range of postgraduate (PG) programs, including MD, MS, and MDS, as well as super-specialty courses such as DM and M.Ch., catering to the advanced academic and professional aspirations of medical graduates. JIPMER provided world-class medical education, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and extensive clinical exposure through its postgraduate programs. The exam is known to be highly competitive and aimed to select candidates based on their comprehensive understanding of medical sciences.
However, since 2020, the JIPMER PG entrance test has been merged with the NEET PG exam, under the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Therefore, admissions to PG medical courses at JIPMER are now based on NEET PG scores. JIPMER’s PG courses is highly competitive and is determined through national-level entrance exams like INI CET and INI SS, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates secure a place in these esteemed programs. JIPMER PG is conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This exam is for those aspirants who are seeking admission to the following programs listed below.
For INI CET (MD/MS, 6-year courses):
JIPMER PG 2026 will begin with the online application submissions starting in the 1st week of September 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 1st week of March 2026 (for July 2026 session). The last date for the submission of online applications is 1st week October 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 1st week of April 2026 (for July 2026 session). JIPMER PG exam will be conducted between 9th November 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 17th May 2026 (for July 2026 session).
For INI SS (DM/M.Ch., 3-year courses):
JIPMER PG 2026 will begin with the online application submissions starting in the 4th week of September 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 4th week of March 2026 (for July 2026 session). The last date for the submission of online applications is 2nd week October 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 1st week of April 2026 (for July 2026 session). JIPMER PG exam will be conducted between 22nd November 2025 (for January 2026 session) and 25th April 2026 (for July 2026 session).

3 Year Post Graduate Program (MD/ MS/ DM/ M. Ch.):
The JIPMER PG (MD/MS) 2026 syllabus has been designed to assess the knowledge and clinical skills of MBBS graduates. The syllabus focuses on topics covered during the undergraduate medical program. Hence, it is largely based on the curriculum prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for MBBS.
