IIT JAM 2025 (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) is a National level Entrance Exam, a gateway for students to get admission into programs at the IITs and Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at IISc for consolidating Science as a career option for bright students. IITs offer programs like M.Sc. (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, etc., for merit scorers of IIT JAM. IITs of Bombay, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Indore, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Gandhinagar, Madras, Ropar, and Roorkee use IIT JAM score for intakes into their PG programs. IITs and IISc conduct IIT JAM every year on a rotational basis. IIT JAM 2025 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. JAM 2025 Examination is a Computer Based ONLINE Examination and it will be held on 2 February 2025.

The notification for IIT JAM 2025 has been released in September 2024. The online application process for the IIT JAM 2025 starts on 11 September 2024 and ends on 11 October 2024.

Eligible candidates can fill out the IIT JAM application form 2025 online mode. The details of the application form are mentioned below:

• The application form can be submitted online, through the IIT JAM 2025 official website.
• The application process will be open from 3rd September 2024.
• Candidates have to fill in their personal, qualification & other details in the application form
• After making the fee payment, submit the application form before checking all entries carefully.
• The last date to fill out the application form along with uploading the documents will be 11th October 2024.

Application Procedure

• Candidate visits the official website of the JAM Online Application Processing System at https://jam.iisc.ac.in/.
• Register yourself at the IIT JAM website by providing your name, email address, and valid mobile number and create a password.
• Now login to the JAM 2025 application processing website and fill in the information, such as your parent/guardian's name and mobile number, choice of the city, and choice of test paper(s) that you wish to appear, date of birth, gender, the address for communication, category and PwD status.
• Upload a scanned copy of your photograph, signature, and SC / ST / PWD certificate (if applicable)
• Pay the IIT JAM application fee and submit it.

IIT JAM 2025 Eligibility

1. Both Indian and foreign nationals are eligible for the IIT JAM examination.
2. To appear for the IIT JAM examination, candidates must clear their bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM.
3. Candidates who are appearing for the final year of their graduation are also eligible to apply for the IIT JAM examination.
4. Candidates who have graduated from distance learning courses are also eligible for the IIT JAM examination.
5. General and OBC category students must obtain at least 55 percent marks in their graduation.
6. Students from reserved categories must obtain at least 50 percent marks in their graduation to satisfy the eligibility criteria to appear for the IIT JAM examination.

IIT JAM 2025 Exam Pattern

1. The JAM test consists of a total of seven papers and the candidate has to appear in one or two papers only.
2. If a candidate wishes to apply for the second paper then he has to pay an additional fee.
3. Candidates who want to appear in two tests must check whether the dates of these two examinations are clashing.
4. For each of the papers given in the next section, the candidate will be given three hours.
5. IIT JAM 2025 examination will be conducted in seven subjects, also referred to as Test Papers, Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Mathematics (MA), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH).

The admit card for IIT JAM 2025 will be available online from January, probably in the second week.

IIT JAM 2025 Syllabus

Physics (PH): Simple Oscillators, Solid state physics, devices and electronics, Modern physics, Kinetic theory, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Oscillations, Waves and Optics, Mechanics and General Properties of Matter, Mathematical Methods

Chemistry (CY): Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry

Mathematics (MA): Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Group Theory, Vector Calculus, Differential Equations, Functions of Two Real Variables, Sequences, and series of real numbers

Mathematical Statistics (MS):

This paper is divided into two parts: Statistics with 60 percent weightage and Mathematics with 40 percent weightage.

Statistics- Testing of Hypotheses, Estimation, Sampling distribution, Joint distribution, Standard distributions, Random variables, and Probability.

Mathematics- Differential Equations, Matrices, Integral Calculus, Differential Calculus, Sequences, and Series.

Biological Sciences (BL): Mathematical Sciences, General Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Basics of Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology

Geology: Applied Geology, Economic Geology, Petrology, Mineralogy, Stratigraphy, Palaeontology, Structural Geology, Geomorphology, The Planet Earth

Biotechnology (BT): In this paper, there are questions from the following subjects Physics (18 percent weightage), Mathematics (18 percent weightage), Chemistry (18 percent weightage), and Biology (44 percent weightage)

BT syllabus is 10+2+3 level.

IIT JAM 2025 Results

IIT JAM 2025 results will be announced. Candidates will have to check the results online. Based on the results, merit lists will be prepared for general, SC/ST, PHD categories separately.

IIT JAM 2025 Counselling

IIT JAM 2025 Results will be declared in March 2025. The merit list will be prepared based on AIR secured by the candidates in IIT JAM 2025.

• Candidates whose names appear on the merit list will be qualified for the IIT JAM counselling 2025.
• Only qualified candidates can apply for academic programs in IISc Bangalore and IITs.
• Candidates have to fill out an Online Application Form for Admission so that they can apply to the institutes for admission.
• Admission forms will be available on the JAM 2025 website.
• The admission process will be ONLINE only.

IIT JAM 2025 Preparation Tips

Prepare in advance

If you are planning to take IIT JAM, you must schedule your preparation a little early as the JAM exam takes more or less 4-5 hours of study in a day. Since the JAM exam syllabus is based on the graduation syllabus you can prepare easily along with your academics.

Follow the syllabus

The syllabus for the exam is announced by the organizing institute in advance. Thus, it is mandatory to go through every topic to excel in the exam.

Solving old and mock question papers will surely lead you on the road to success. Referring to and solving old question papers also gives an insight into the pattern of questions that can be expected in the exam. JAM question papers are available in the bookstore and online as well.

Various books on IIT JAM are available in the market and also online.  Referring to them while you are preparing will have an added advantage.

Basic computer skills

Since IIT JAM has a paper on computer applications it requires you to focus on basic knowledge of computers and fundamentals of C language.
