It is an autonomous engineering and technology-oriented institute of higher education in India and is the first University in India dedicated to Maritime Studies. It is a Deemed university in 21st August 2007. AMET University is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a Grade ‘B’. The University is affiliated by University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).
