Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT), located in Kolkata and affiliated with MAKAUT, is a reputed engineering college offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. As a student of the B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) batch of 2023–2027, my experience so far has been a mix of opportunities and challenges. The campus is well-equipped with modern infrastructure, including smart classrooms, computer labs, a central library, and decent hostel facilities. The environment is generally disciplined and safe. The AI & ML branch is relatively new but growing steadily, with exposure to relevant programming languages, tools, and AI-based projects. However, the curriculum still follows a traditional format and is not always industry-updated, though some faculty members make up for this with practical insights. Faculty members are experienced, but student-teacher interaction could be more engaging and project-oriented. Some teachers are highly supportive, while others focus more on theory than practical skills. MSIT regularly hosts seminars, workshops, and coding competitions, which help in skill development beyond academics. The placement scenario is improving, especially for CSE-related branches. Companies like TCS, Capgemini, Infosys, and Cognizant are regular recruiters. Internships are also provided in later semesters, but students must also actively seek opportunities outside. Overall, MSIT is a good choice in Kolkata for engineering aspirants, especially in computer-related fields, but there is room for improvement in terms of advanced labs, industry collaboration, and placement support for core AI/ML roles.
