IBS Case Studies: Preparing Leaders for Tomorrow

The ICFAI Business School, also known as IBS is considered one of the top Business Schools in Management. The reason behind its enormous popularity in this field lies in one of the key factors: the “Case-Based” teaching and learning. This method gives the students exposure to practical scenarios, thus gaining an insight into the real world in the corporate sector. Therefore, several business aspirants have marked IBS as one of the top Business Schools worldwide.

Benefits of Case-Based Learning at IBS:

The ICFAI Business School in general does not follow the “textbook” method. Students are generally exposed to real-life experiences in the business sector rather than simply following theories from their textbooks. In this way, students are encouraged to not only analyze problems that arise in the business sector but also to think critically and come up with a “practical solution” along with the help of theoretical knowledge. Hence, students can gain more skills such as – problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and most importantly decision-making, which are very essential even in real life outside of business.

IBS provides Management programs to its students with specialization courses including – Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Marketing, Economics, and Healthcare. In this two years of duration, each student is provided with 270 cases in general. However, students pursuing Management with specializations are provided with more or less several case studies depending on their courses. For instance, students specializing in HR and Finance are provided with 260 cases while those specializing in Marketing are required to deal with 290 cases. Hence, students are made to dive deeper into the business world to gain diverse experiences.

Large Collection of Case Studies:

The ICFAI Business School has a large collection of case studies – typically 6,600 researched cases for its students. These researched cases are usually made with the help of assignments, and notes systematically provided by the faculty. The case studies are made with a focus on specializations for students in areas involving – Strategy, Corporate Governance, Finance, Human Resources, and Marketing.

An interesting fact about IBS researched case studies is they are being utilized both in the IBS campus and over 900 Business schools worldwide. This proves that these case studies are curated with higher qualities at the IBS research centre which is one of the prominent leaders in the Management education sector. The “World Wide Recognition” for IBS case studies have also led this institute to win several global prestigious awards hosted by the Case Centre. Some of these awards are listed below.

  • 11th Annual E-PARCC Teaching Case and Simulation Competition – 2018
  • three awards in the 29th year of The Case Centre's Awards and Competitions – 2019
  • EFMD Case Writing Competition
  • John Molson Case Writing Competition
  • Dark Side Case Writing Competition

Worldwide Impact and Industry Significance:

The case studies developed by the ICFAI Business School have a huge impact across the world when it comes to providing education in the Business sector. This can be claimed because over “2,00,000 individual copies” are not only adopted by reputed universities globally but there are also 10 million copies of these researched case studies and theoretical knowledge combined into books.

The above data shows how significant IBS is for the institutes/universities, faculty and students in the Business education sector. Therefore, giving access to future business leaders to gain real-world experience before heading out to the corporate world.

Practical Experiences or Learn by Doing:

Despite being a top leader in the Business education sector, the ICFAI Business School also requires a helping hand to maintain its standard and functionality. This is approached using two advanced tools – SAP Labs and Bloomberg Terminal. These are some of the best resources used by IBS to ensure its students have enough practical knowledge and are ready to beat the challenges in the business sector.

Innovating Excellence in Case Studies with IBS Case Research Centre:

The ICFAI Business School works closely with the IBS Centre for Management Research (ICMR) which produces all the high–quality case studies for its students. The ICMR is equipped with top faculty staff who are responsible for this task. These faculty members are in charge of researching the “business trends” in the ongoing business world and hence making their students compatible with the current business scenario. Hence, the ICMR is one of the other major components in making the ICFAI Business School a leading institute in the Management Education sector.

Career Prep with Real–World Exposure:

Along with the ICFAI Business School, its students or future business leaders are also required to make their contributions. The IBS students are provided with several resources which are produced by the ICMR through a painstaking process. They are generally offered with opportunities such as the “Summer Internship Programme” (SIP). This is where the future IBS graduates can make themselves capable enough in the actual business world and utilize all of their education, skills, and practical knowledge in reality.

Conclusion:

To conclude it can be said that the ICFAI Business School is known to be a “leader” in the business education sector. It has a significant impact in this industry due to two of its factors – the “Case-Based” teaching method, and the “Centre for Management Research”. The IBS also provides internship opportunities for its future business leaders exposed to this industry. Therefore, these certain factors ensure that its students are exposed to practical knowledge to deal with the challenges faced in the real corporate world thus making it a leading business school worldwide.
