NEET PG 2024: Over 2 lakh candidates appear for exam held in two shifts

NEET PG 2024: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Post graduation (NEET PG) 2024 was successfully conducted Sunday, August 11 in two shifts. The NEET PG exam which is organised by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) saw a total of 2,16,136 candidates appearing from 416 centres spread across 170 cities in 31 states.

In shift one, as many as 1,07,959 students appeared for the examination from the registered 1,14,276 candidates. Of them, 6,317 PG candidates did not appear in the examination. NBEMS also stated that two centres were delayed for technical reasons in shift 1, with a maximum delay time of one hour 45 minutes, and three centres were delayed for below 30 minutes.

While in shift two, 6,087 students remained absent and 1,08,177 candidates appeared for the PG exam from the total registered candidates 1,14,264. Due to some technical reasons, one exam venue was delayed with a maximum delay time 55 minutes and four centres were delayed below 30 minutes, NBEMS said on a statement issued on August 11.
 
Security arrangements 

“To ensure safe and smooth conduct of NEET PG, NBEMS had set up a central command centre at its Dwarka Office. MoHFW, NBEMS along with their teams kept a close watch on the conduct of examination.” NBEMS added.

For the successful examination conduction, more than 1950 independent appraisers and 300 flying squad members were deputed at the examination centres to monitor the conduct of NEET PG. Some eight regional command centres were also set up to supervise the conduct of exam, noted the release adding that NBEMS also closely monitored the social media and ensured that only the correct information is given to the stakeholders.

The security measures along with close coordination amongst various agencies ensured safe and smooth conduct of the PG thereby maintaining the sanctity of this high stake exam, stated the governing body.
 
Normalisation procedure 

Meanwhile, the governing body also released a notice explaining the normalisation procedure for the preparation of the results. The examination results for each shift will be prepared in the form of raw scores and percentages.

Percentiles (up to 7 decimal places) for the total score shall be calculated. The resolution of ties will be as per the scheme of the examination published in the prospectus. In case the same is not mentioned in the prospectus, older by age will be ranked higher in tie cases.
