Situated at Suryamaninagar, Tripura, Tripura University is a central university. Tripura University, which was founded in 1976 as the postgraduate division of Calcutta University, developed from a State University to a Central University in 2007. The campus's stunning beauty and serene surroundings, which are located in an area with zero pollution, offer the ideal academic environment for developing young, bright brains. The university currently consists of two colleges, forty-four departments, four centres of study, and four departments under the Directorate of Distance Education.

Tripura University provides state-of-the-art infrastructure and a wide range of facilities to its students. Some of the key infrastructure facilities and amenities available at the university include:
Library: The university's main library can accommodate up to 250 students at once and is equipped with Wi-Fi. With print books, print journals, CDs and DVDs, theses and dissertations, reports, newspapers, e-journals, and e-books, the library is well-stocked and knowledgeable. More than 30,000 e-books and 14 online databases are available to library users via e-Shodh-Sindhu.
Hostel: The university is highly computerized and has a 24-hour internet connection. There are 60 and 110 seats available at the facility for boys and girls, respectively. There are fifty seats reserved for research scholars. The hostel features TVs in the communal areas and mess facilities.
