SNR Sons Charitable Trust founded Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) in Coimbatore in 1994. An autonomous organization, SREC provides twelve undergraduate programs in the following fields: computer science and engineering, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and data science, biomedical, civil, mechanical, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, electronics and instrumentation, information technology, and M.Tech computer science and engineering (5 Year Integrated).

The institute provides an MBA program in addition to seven postgraduate engineering and technology programs with specializations in manufacturing engineering, power electronics and drives, VLSI design, computer science and engineering, embedded system technologies, control and instrumentation engineering, and nanoscience and technology. SREC has received an "A+" rating from the NAAC and has also been re-accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.
